Felida 4th of July Kid's Parade
The Felida Neighborhood Association began a 4th of July non-motorized kids' parade in 2002. At the beginning, about 50 children participated. Now the numbers are well over 1,000. The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. at the Felida Park, travels along 36th Avenue for several blocks and returns back to the park for a barbeque and fun field games with prizes. Fire District 6 leads the parade with our antique fire engine, ends the parade with our engine from the Lakeshore station, and provides fun games at the barbeque afterward.

Food Drive
The Walk and Knock food drive is an important program for taking care of those in need in our community. Fire District 6 stations serve as drop-off locations for those donating non-perishable food items. The fire station on Hazel Dell Avenue is also one of the seven collection sites on the first Saturday in December each year. All food collected on doorsteps in NW Clark County comes to the Hazel Dell fire station.

Family Day
The Fire District 6 Family Day / Open House takes place on the first Saturday of June each year. Featuring automobile extrication demonstrations, Clark County Sheriff's Office K-9 shows, a Life Flight helicopter landing, the fire escape smoke house (a mobile structure in which we teach children to practice escaping from their own home as if it were filled with smoke or on fire), free food, low cost bicycle helmets, fire engines (new and old), and more. It is a community event you don't want to miss. Parking is available at the shopping center across the street from the Hazel Dell station and visitors are expected to surpass 3,000 this year.

Hazel Dell Parade of Bands
On the third Saturday of May every year, the Hazel Dell Parade of Bands marches through Hazel Dell. The parade, sponsored by the Hazel Dell/Salmon Creek Business Association, has been a part of this community for over 43 years. With 24 bands and over 120 entries, it is the largest parade in southwest Washington. Fire District 6 personnel have been assisting with the parade for over 33 years. Don't miss out on this traditional community event.

Klineline Kids Fishing Event
The Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Salmon Creek Lions Club host the annual Kids Fishing Event each year in April. 1,600 children receive free t-shirts, fishing rods, and the chance to catch a fish at Klineline pond. Fire District 6 keeps a crew standing by to make sure that any medical issues are taken care of quickly. Hooks can catch humans as well as fish.

Public Safety Complex Open House
The third Saturday in September is traditionally the day for the annual Open House at the Public Safety Complex at the Fairgrounds on 179th Street. The Public Safety Complex houses the Clark County Sheriff's Office West Precinct, the Clark County Fire Marshal's Office and a volunteer fire station shared by Fire Districts 6, 11, & 12. Many fun activities take place at this event, there are CCSO k-9s, extrication demos on cars, fire sprinkler demonstrations, a Life Flight landing, free food, bomb squad demos, and much more available for residents.

Santa's Posse
The Clark County Sheriff's Office, Vancouver Rotary, and Fire District 6 work together to provide food and gift baskets to 300 families in Clark County each year. New toys, gifts, and food can be dropped off at any Fire District 6 station to help those in need during the holidays. Fire District 6 delivers to 40 of those families each year. Many of those families are greeted by Santa on our antique fire engine.

Walmart Safety Fair
In October each year, Fire District 6 participates with Wal-Mart to provide fire safety, bicycle safety, and car seat safety information to shoppers at the Hazel Dell Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart provides a generous grant to buy bicycle helmets to give away for free. American Medical Response provides car seat safety information. Sparky the fire dog also makes an appearance.
