Fire Prevention Month Kicks Off!

It’s that time of the year again! It’s time for our on-duty crews to pull up outside the eight Vancouver Elementary schools located within our district and spread the word about fire safety and prevention. This morning we kicked off fire prevention month to a visit at Felida Elementary School, where about 110 students played the “what’s-hot-what’s-not” game, heard a neat story about “No Dragons For Tea”, saw what a firefighter looks like with all the gear on, and got to spray the fire hose!!!

By the end of the month we’ll have seen around 1,000 students. We hope our efforts help to reduce the number of fires and injuries. And starting next year we’re taking our “show” to area 4th graders!
