Helping Others On And Off-Duty

David Rios was a tow truck operator who earlier this year was trying to help a motorist on the side of I-205 when he was hit by a distracted driver. David lost a leg in the accident. This week our Firefighters from IAFF Local 452 built a ramp to improve access to David’s home. Thanks to Shurway Lumber and Precision Rebar for helping us help others! And thanks to Firefighters Gano, Wolf and Dunlap for providing the muscle.

David is participating in a regional campaign sponsored by AAA-Washington that aims to remind drivers to “Slow Down and Move Over” when they see first responders on the side of the freeway. The project is supported by WA-DOT, WSP, Tow Companies, and Clark County Fire District 6. We are currently working on a Public Service Announcement that will air on TV stations in the Pacific Northwest. So drivers please remember, when you’re on a freeway and you see a tow operator on the side “Slow Down and Move Over”. It’s the safe thing to do…and it’s the law.
