For more than 30 years we’ve been coordinating a Fire and Life Safety Poster Contest with the eight elementary schools within our district. It usually culminates with the winners being announced at a luncheon in Station 61. As you can imagine, this was a very different year, and since we weren’t able to conduct the contest as we have in the past, we had to get a little creative. Fortunately, Art Teachers in four of our District schools agreed to take part in a virtual Poster Contest. Sponsored by the Hazel Dell Salmon Creek Business Association, students created their own posters based on this years’ theme: “Don’t Hide, Go Outside!” We want to thank all the kids who entered posters, because the ultimate goal is to spread the word of fire and life safety, and thanks to the hard work of students and teachers we hope the message came through.
