A violent two-alarm fire ripped through an industrial building in Salmon Creek early this morning, destroying at least seven Clark County businesses. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fast-moving blaze.
Employees at the building, located at 14615 NE 13th Court, reported seeing smoke coming from an upstairs window and hearing fire alarms sounding. Shortly after smoke began to fill the building, tenants evacuated and called 911.
When Firefighters from Clark County Fire District 6 arrived they saw the estimated 110,000 square foot building fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from Vancouver Fire and Clark Cowlitz Fire Rescue assisted in fighting the blaze, which was quickly called as a two-alarm fire. Firefighters established a defensive mode to keep the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
There are at least seven businesses impacted by the blaze, and the Clark County Fire Marshal’s office will determine both the cause of the fire and estimated loss of the building and its contents. Clark County GIS information lists the value of the building at $1.8 million dollars.
A total of nine fire engines, two squads, one training rig, two Battalion Chiefs and two trucks battled the fast-moving fire. No Firefighters were injured during the blaze.
